Jakarta – Ajang MTV Video Music Awards ke-29 sudah mengumumkan para musisi terbaik dunia yang masuk ke dalam nominasi. Rihanna dan Drake berpeluang akan membawa pulang piala paling banyak karena keduanya masuk ke dalam 5 nominasi.
Rihanna dan Katy Perry akan kembali berhadapan untuk kategori Best Female Video dan Best Visual Effects. Mereka nantinya juga akan bersaing dengan Beyonce Knowles, Nicki Minaj dan Selena Gomez & The Scene untuk kategori pertama, dan berhadapan dengan David Guetta, Linkin Park serta Skrillex untuk kategori yang disebutkan berikutnya.
Katy Perry berhasil meraih sebanyak empat nominasi di belakang Riri dan Drizzy. Sedangkan untuk Beyonce, Coldplay, M.I.A., Frank Ocean dan Watch the Throne duo (Jay-Z and Kanye West) hanya mendapat tiga nominasi.
Voting pemenang dapat dilakukan dengan mengunjungi situs resmi MTV VMAs 2012. Pada tanggal 6 September 2012 mendatang, pemenang akan diadakan di Staples Center, Los Angeles.
